This body of works was made especially to an exhibtion curatored by Rotem Ritov. the original idea was how we, human, form ideas and perceptions, as individuals and as societies. The full details and text are on the 'Exhibitions' page. Tamara Turgeman – Asteroid B10245: Horses Melt Into Epistemology’s Landscape * All Answers Are Correct Curator: Rotem Ritov Since the dawn of humanity, people have searched for ways to formulate all phenomena, to explain, justify, and prove the absoluteness of the matrix, in itself. All phenomena, among them freedom (chaos) and order (the laws of nature) are present in nature at all times, without formulated theories or expressing emotions [1] At the foundation of Turgeman’s oeuvre, and stemming from her familiarity with epistemology[2], questions relates to the relationship between phenomena and the matrix and their implications for social concepts, conflicts between the individual and society, and the relations between nature and humanity. Turgeman studies and observes conceptual systems of cultural values and cycles of psychological and conceptual consciousness, such as: divinity, myth, fate, and humanity’s place in the universe, in the world and in society. Viewers are invited to tour between two concepts invented by humanity: absolute freedom (uncivilized, devoid of meaning or certainty, dynamic) versus the desire for order and answers (domesticated, regimented, the permanent grid, control, religion) and to ponder how we cope emotionally with situations where the illusion of order falls apart and collapses. The public is invited to park their spaceship on Turgeman’s asteroid and to ponder the matrix through an imaginary experiment: 1. To begin the journey and fly your spaceship, use the steering wheel “is this correct?”. 2. To navigate right or left, press on “what do I know?”. 3. To ascend or descend, press on the button “who am I?”. 4. To stop, press “this is correct.” * [1] For example: Myna is defined as an invasive bird species (carries negative connotations of characteristics such as aggression, heavy-handedness). From Myna's perspective, it acts according to its nature without any description: it exists, survives. For the Myna or nature, these acts do not have meanings or interpretations as concepts of good or bad. [2] Epistemology is a branch of philosophy coined by the Scottish philosopher James Frederick Ferrier (19th century), focuses on the essence and the boundaries of knowledge. It addresses questions such as: What is correct? What is truth? What is knowledge? How is it acquired? What is the relationship between reality and knowledge? Is it actually possible to know something? Is skepticism correct and to what extent? *text by Rotem Ritov, 2023
